Headstone.
I. H. [S] Rest [____] Sacred To the Memory of WILLIAM ASHFORD. Late Serjeant in the 1st Regt. of Grenadier Guards Who for nearly fourteen years discharged with Credit to himself and Advantage to others The Office of Sunday S[chool] Master in this his Nativ[e] [____] He departed this lif[e] [____] 1830, Aged 5[(7)] [____] Also to the M[emory of] ANN ASHFORD the [wife] of the aforesaid WILLIAM ASHFORD, who departed this life Febry 3rd 1855, Aged 82 years
Footstone.
W. A. "Thou art gone to the Grave but we will not deplore thee Whose God was Thy Ransom, Thy Guardian and Guide. He gave thee He took thee and He will restore thee And death has no sting for the SAVIOUR has died." These Stones are erected by his afflicted Widow aided by the Rector and certain other Inhabitants of this Parish. A. A.
