D.D. 1810: he carried into after life the Spirit of the truly English Nurture
he had received, discharging his public duties as a Gentleman, a Magistrate
and a Clergyman, with Honor, Justice, and Piety.
Deeply lamented by his Family and Friends, he died in the Faith and Hope
of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, April 11th 1838, in the 81st year of his Age.
If unaffected Piety and Truth, If Friendship aiming at no private End
Cherished to latest Age from earliest youth, To censure loth, but eager to commend,
If warm Benevolence for all Mankind, If learning from its Classic fount deriv'd
An honest Heart, and independent Mind, And Humour that the Eightieth Year surviv'd
If qualities like these can Man endear,
His Name shall be rever'd whose Dust lies here.

who died November 23rd 1838 aged 73.
She was Daughter and Coheiress of John Noble Esquire Alderman of the City
of Bristol, in which he bore the Offices of Sheriff in 1745 and 1759 and of
Mayor in 1762. She sustained the character of a Christian Wife, Mother
and Friend. They left three Sons, the Revd. John Noble, James Maurice RN and
Martin Noble, and two Daughters, Ann Noble and Ellen, them surviving.
Also to the Memory of their youngest Son HENRY NOBLE SHIPTON
Senior Ensign of the 4th or King's Own Regiment of Foot. He was personally
engaged at the Sieges of Majorca, Minorca, and New Orleans and in the
glorious Battle of WATERLOO. On the Eve of Promotion, merited not less
by his amiable qualities as a Man, than by his bravery as an Officer
he fell a victim to the Yellow Fever in Barbados,
December 5th 1821 aged 26 Years.
Sweet sleep the Brave who sink to rest, With all their Country's Honours blest.
